Petition to expand the Nepaug Forest parking to accommodate more cars
Hikers and mountain bikers love the splendor and beauty of New Hartford's Nepaug Forest trails. With so many people enjoying natures bounty it is imperative to increase the size of the parking lot. Right now the overflow parking goes across the heavily traveled Route 202. In an effort to not restrict usage while keeping our visitors safe, we ask that you sign this petition. With your signature and help we can make a great local spot even greater and safer.

The safety hazards on Route 202 are getting worse as more people discover these trails. I am meeting with local planners next week to present our list of signatures as evidence that this expansion is a public necessity. Please email your district representative today and tell them that we prioritize road safety over inaction.

Great idea. The current parking area along Rt. 202 requires bikers and pedestrians to park alongside and cross a road where cars travel at about 60mph. Safe, expanded parking north of 202 would solve this problem.
I have been there many weekends where trail users are forced to park on and cross the busy main road.
Mountain Biking is such a positive draw and influence in small towns and locations, it brings in so many people that spend $ fir gas food drink etc, a bigger lot equals more more mountain bikers and that equals more $ fir that local town it’s a no brainer please build a larger parking lot!
My family and I are huge users of Nepaug State forest. All my kids love to mountain bike here! Extra parking would be great on weekends and make parking much safer off of RT202. Thank you for your consideration!
We need this at Nepaug so badly! Parking is usually a nightmare on weekends and crossing 202 just isn't a safe long term plan.
Traffic is too fast on 202 to safely cross. Especially with kids.
Crossing 202 not safe, need more parking.

I support additional parking. It is much needed for the safety of both the people enjoying the park and for the drivers who have to negotiate cars pulling out onto rt 202 at a slower speeds.
