There has been a proposal by the owner of the Tourand Creek subdivision to re-zone the property that was zoned as commercial to 3 story high density residential. We feel that for the community of St. Adolphe to grow and reach its true potential that more, not less commercial property on or close to Main Street is required. We are not in favor of the re-zoning.

I just looked at the screen and saw 500 signatures which honestly feels surreal because I was worried nobody else cared about that corner of Tourand Creek besides me. Someone from the local paper sent an email asking for a quote earlier today so I guess this is actually getting some real attention now.

I can see the numbers climbing toward 500 and it really feels like we might actually get someone to listen now if we can just push past that milestone before the next meeting. If everyone just grabs someone else to sign this right now we could hit that mark before the end of the day which would be huge because honestly I am so tired of seeing these plans for more housing when we need shops so badly.

I was looking at the total earlier and we are just hovering right under a hundred which honestly feels crazy considering how fast this started moving. If you happen to be in the group chat or have a neighbor who hasn't heard about the three-story building plans yet please grab the link and send it their way because we really need to keep this momentum from flattening out right now.

No to re-zone! I want more than just a place to sleep. Personally want to see this beautiful town grow slow and easy. I already think its beautiful and don't want it to loose its charm. New small businesses would be great! A restaurant, grocery store, daycare = job creation for many. This is what our town is starving for!

Why is this even being considered? Before putting these apartments in shouldn’t the necessary businesses be put in place to accommodate the already established community? We already have new housing with no amenities nearby. Keep main street open for the businesses we so badly need, put the apartments on the secondary streets where they should be.

We absolutly need more commercial space not less to support the hudge residential growth currently underway. This space Shd remain open for future amenities/infrastructure that will be badly needed to support these residents. Should apts be constructed, they should be placed on a secondary side street not on the Main Street.

Our town does not have enough day care positions already. There are kids that have to go to school in the city due to not enough daycare space. If we want to improve our town we need commercial aspects to be more attractive. A grocery store, coffee and breakfast or any restaurant... would garner more interesting for this community.

There is no need for three storey blocks. Getting tired of these developers and their bait and switch tactics to try and squeeze more profit at the expense of a community's wellbeing

We were promised on thing now developers are trying to quietly change the deal. St. Adolphe and area WILL support local shopping and services! Councillors - vote no to re-zoning!

Hi Andre, not sure if you heard but the re-zoning request was denied.

Thank you to everyone who helped with this and the signature petition. The public hearing had as close as I could count 150+- people in attendance. We ended up with approx. 470 signatures probably the biggest petition Ritchot has ever seen. There was some rancorous moments, some got a little heated but for the most part respect and politeness won out. At the end of the night council voted AND WE WON unanimously
