Hi All,

St.Laurent is one of the only boroughs left on the island of Montreal that does not allow leashed dogs in public recreational spaces. The City of Montreal implemented a new by-law on August 28th allowing more leniency and VSL is adopting this by-law however there is no schedule in place to implement the new law. People are receiving $450 tickets for walking through the park with their dogs.

Please sign and circulate this petition so we may present it to the city and try to have the regulations changed sooner than later.

The number of residents reaching out with stories about unfair fines in our parks highlights a clear need for immediate action. I am currently organizing the documentation required to present these grievances directly to the borough council. Your participation provides the essential weight needed to push for a formal implementation schedule.

I'm a responsible dog owner and fully support this initiative. In some places I must walk in the street because other than the paths we're not allowed to walk on with our dog there are no sidewalks. I feel like I'm putting my life in jeopardy because I have a dog! Nonsense!

We have a nice park, and I would like to walk there with my sons dog. I am old and I don't want to walk on side of the streets, I don't want to trip.

Saint Laurent should look at the time of dog parks that are in rosemont and take an example ... the dog parks here are so small dogs can’t exercise in them ... full of big rocks and mod (obviously who ever designed these parks here never owned a dog)... go look at the ones in rosemont, outemont even downtown !!

This is ridiculous. I don't see there's a problem when the dogs are on leash walking next to their owners. Most of the dog parks are too small and not properly maintained that I don't even want to bring mine there anymore. It's dirty and dogs get sick.

Insane, to prohibit an dog owner not to walk his/her dog (leashed) is like prohibiting kids in a quiet park because they are loud. I understand not everyone likes dogs (like not everyone likes kids) , but we do all pay taxes and our rights to shared public space should not be limited based on the preferences of only a few.

Absolute non sense !! I can't even walk my dog along the Bois-Franc lakes without being worried to receive a ticket. Can't even enjoy my own neighborhood with my dog, so much for promoting green spaces and nature !
