Hanover Area dress code is far too limited. It makes getting children ready for school in the morning, frustrating. Especially when the teachers and administration are not in agreement on who is and who is not in violation of the dress code. Many (well behaved) children are being sent to the office (in the middle of the day) to receive warnings about what they are wearing. Which takes away from classroom learning time. Thus creating an unhealthy learning environment. It would be far easier for everyone to understand exactly what is and is not allowed to be worn, if the teachers and administration themselves were expected to follow the same dress code as the students.

  We want our children to dress with modesty and respect. We want our children to succeed. We want them to receive the best education possible, before going out into the real world. We as parents can understand why the school board felt certain rule changes, to the previous dress code were deemed necessary. We want these changes to take place without it being such a heavy financial weight. Every child in the district has (at home) a wide variety of nice, clean and respectable clothes that could be integrated into the current dress code. Thus creating a vastly larger option of daily outfits. The amount of students being sent to the office for reprimanded, would diminish. The learning environment would flourish. The overwhelming frustration on the parents would be greatly minimized.

  We are petitioning to have the teachers and administration follow the same dress code as the students and to amend the dress code to include the following articles of clothing.

Pants

-Jeans/Denim

-Solid color

-Sized to fit

-Secured at the waist

-Two pockets in the front and two in the back

-No holes, tears, rips or cuts

Shirts (Polo/Golf/Dress)

-Multi-colored

-Patterns (i.e. stripes, plaid, hearts, polka dots and stars)

-A separate, long sleeved shirt permitted under approved short sleeved shirts, of same or different color

Jackets

-A hoodless light weight jacket should be allowed in the classroom

Gym

-T-shirts should be allowed, so as not to ruin nice polo/golf/dress shirts
