The university has agreed to meet with us and address the compensation claims which is a result I honestly never saw coming. This outcome is entirely down to the persistence of the 214 people who spoke up to push for better conditions. I am so glad we kept at this …

We the undersigned wish to complain about the standard of Edinburgh Napier University student accommodation at Bainfield and we seek an urgent meeting between aggrieved residents and our NSA student representatives, and the University, with a view to remedying unacceptable standards and seeking compensation to cover any extra costs incurred as a consequence of accommodation problems, and in recognition of the major inconveniences caused by some of the more basic and/or persistent problems at the site.

I have been reading the stories you are sharing about your experiences at Bainfield and they are truly heartbreaking. It is clear that this has become much bigger than any of us originally imagined, and I am only the one holding the pen while you are the ones fueling this movement.

MY toilet flush was not working for a couple of months. Had "experts" in my flat every week but the were not capable of sorting the issue. Asked for reparation payment and got the answer that, "we don't offer that". I choosed a en suit accomodation and I payed the price for an en suit room. They obviously broke our agreed contract by not observing the stated rules. Not even mentioning the ongoing issues regarding heating, wifi, washing machines and warm water. I'll definitely take the appropriate legal measures cause this is a baseness.

The heat radiator decoded to come loose and flood our kitchen floor. There was so much water that it went into the hallway. All of the residences of the flat were away for the weekend, but we were somehow blamed for not reporting the incident.

My son is at Bainfield and has been paying a lot of money per month for the privelidge. His towel rail fell off in the first few weeks and his office chair legs broke and he has been sitting on it like it is a pogo stick for MONTHS even though he has repeatedly asked for it to be fixed. Now there are water problems. Just what are we paying for here? I want an answer.

Received this reply when enquiring about compensation: "I appreciate that there has been a sporadic loss of hot water. We are working to have this resolved. There are showering facilities at Engage gym located at both Craiglockart and Sighthill campuses. We will not issue any form of compensation for temporary loss of hot water."

We are paying almost 600£ to stay in flats without hot water. It'll be ridiculous if we have to pay the full amount of rent next month when we're not getting what we're paying for. My flat are unwell and showering in freezing cold water is not helping at all. Not everyone has time to go to campuses and shower - plus that's just out of the way and kind of weird to do as well.

Ridiculous. I have no shower curtain, hot water, or towel rail and the windows open barely enough to work. I reported not having any shower curtain and was basically told that they don't care and it won't be fixed. Definitely being ripped off living here

Winter was freezing. Heating should be up to us and not them as we live here.

Everything is falling apart. The unviersity seems to find any reason to get us fined. Most of the problems with the building seem to have come from poor planning and a lack of funding. If the University had invested in long term interior items maybe most of these problems would not have occurred.
