This is a petition organized by the student body of U of D Mercy Health Science PA & Nursing programs. We are asking that the university implement a credit/ no credit (aka pass/fail) grading policy just like many other Michigan universities have done including University of Michigan Pharmacy School or to withdraw Webcams like Wayne State University PA, Pharmacy, and Health Science programs. The purpose of adopting these policies is to reduce the stress that students are currently under due to the unexpected switch to online classes, while also dealing with other stress from their day-to -day lives that have been greatly affected by this pandemic. Definition of credit/ no credit policy: Scoring greater than or equal to 70% in a class would earn a “Credit/Pass” on your transcript without affecting one’s GPA, while scoring < 70% would earn a “No credit/ Fail” without affecting one’s GPA. No webcam policy would protect student’s privacy and honor. Similarly, as outlined by University of Michigan’s new policy, we can also make it possible for students to later request their “Pass” for a course to be converted to a letter grade through due process outlined by the university on a set due date.
