We, the undersigned students of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program, respectfully request that Pacific College of Health and Science honor its published BSN Student Manual by administering course examinations online as stated in the official policy.

The current BSN Student Manual clearly states:

"Course exams, including ATI content mastery and other assessments, are conducted online at scheduled times." It further states that "All exams are remotely proctored..." and outlines the procedures governing remote examinations.

Additionally, the manual contains an extensive Online Exam Protocol, detailing remote identity verification, webcam monitoring, ATI technical support, and remote testing procedures, demonstrating that online proctoring is the established examination process.

Despite this published policy, students have recently been informed that course examinations will instead be administered in person. This represents a significant departure from the policies under which students enrolled and planned their academic, professional, and personal obligations.

Many students have arranged employment schedules, childcare, transportation, family responsibilities, and medical appointments based on the published handbook and semester schedule. Changing the examination format during an active semester creates unnecessary financial, logistical, and personal hardship.

We fully support maintaining academic integrity and understand the importance of secure examinations. However, the College has already established comprehensive procedures for secure remote testing through ATI remote proctoring, which has been utilized throughout the program.

Therefore, we respectfully request that the College:

  •  Reinstate online, remotely proctored examinations as outlined in the BSN Student Manual.
  •  Honor the examination policies and format published at the beginning of the academic year.
  •  Avoid implementing substantial testing format changes during an active semester.
  •  Provide students with sufficient advance notice and transparent communication should future policy revisions become necessary.

This petition is submitted respectfully and in good faith. Our goal is not to oppose academic standards, but to request consistency, fairness, and adherence to the policies that students relied upon when enrolling in and progressing through this program.

We appreciate your consideration and respectfully request a written response addressing this concern.

Please consider reinstating online examinations. I live on an island and have a job, so traveling to Malé for exams is very difficult. Online exams would make education more accessible for students in situations like mine

We, as students, have other commitments as well. We have work schedules and some of us live very far from school. When we got admission, we were told that all exams and assignments will take place online, so it’s important that Pacific College of Health and Science’s Nursing department adhere to what they have told their students in time of admission and orientation. Thank you!

I'm an acupuncture student at Pacific College signing in solidarity with the nursing students. Following through on one's word and offering ample advance notice for significant changes to a program is part of basic standards of professionalism and integrity we should all be held to, whether as future health care providers or as administrators of healthcare education.

I support keeping exams online because it provides greater flexibility for working students and those with family responsibilities.

Unjust and unfair. The school is structured for online and that was main decision in selecting the school.

I am an independent student who has to work to pay for a living i choose this school because of flexibility if that is taken away I won’t be able to work and might be forced to stop school because I need to work to pay my bills please consider this. I need to finish school.

The availability of online testing was a decisive factor for many of us when choosing Pacific College. As nursing students balancing rigorous clinical rotations, demanding study schedules, personal caregiving responsibilities, and employment commitments, the flexibility of online examinations is essential to our academic success and overall well-being.

I respectfully ask the school to reconsider the decision to change exams from online to in-person. Many of us enrolled because of the flexibility the school offered, and online exams were an important part of that. This change creates challenges for students who work, have families, or live far from campus. Please consider keeping online exams .
