We, the undersigned, support preserving the green open space at 400 Georgia Court, known as the Presbyterian Home of Maryland property, as a passive-usage pocket park. And we support the efforts by Baltimore County government officials to acquire the parcel, preclude any future development and allow maintenance of the property by the Department of Recreation and Parks. We believe a park would preserve the beauty and tranquility of the neighborhood and enhance the quality of life for all residents of Southland Hills, Towson, and Baltimore County.

The feedback from local officials remains frustratingly vague while the threat of development hangs over the lot. I have been spending my evenings drafting formal inquiries to the county planning board to ensure they cannot ignore our interest in this green space.

Reaching this level of support has been a long and exhausting process but seeing so many neighbors agree on the value of this land keeps me moving. It is clear that the community cares deeply about the future of this space and I intend to keep pushing until our goal is reached.

It is my hope that the new county administration seriously consider the Balto Co 2000 Plan to achieve a balanced development in designated growth and community conservation areas and preserve agricultural activities and natural resources, given the imbalance of development over the past decade. We already suffer water challenges in our community and will have to absorb current development projects. The community and future generations would be well served if we could preserve some of the last green spaces in Towson.
I grew up playing on that green space and had a lot of fun there as a kid and know a lot of other kids in the neighborhood did as well. Hopefully this area becomes a park so others can enjoy playing there for years to come!
We need green space desperately in the Towson area! And Southland Hills, being a neighborhood full of families and children would benefit greatly from a beautiful, open park.
Keep this lovely area green! My family lives very near the Presbyterian Home and we’ve always enjoyed the beautiful lawn.
I live south of Ridgely Rd, in Lutherville-Timonium and attend Towson Presbyterian Church at 400 West Chesapeake Ave., near the proposed pocket park. Maintaining this space as a public park is in the interest of neighborhood residents and visitors alike. The large trees and plantings are a plus for the environment.

While Towson continues to embrace rapid development from the growth of the university and the movement of people from Baltimore City, we need more green spaces to balance the ratio between paved and soiled area. This is one of the few pockets left in this neighborhood.
