Petition for a Full-time Veterinarian in Grand Turk

Description

We, the undersigned, are concerned about the lack of a full-service veterinarian located on the island of Grand Turk. As a small island with a significant population of animals (including dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, pigs, chickens, etc.), it is essential to have a dedicated veterinary professional with the necessary resources to provide critical care for both the large and small animals of Grand Turk and Salt Cay.

Currently, the nearest veterinarian is located on Providenciales, about 90 miles from GT, making it extremely difficult and expensive for residents to access the care their animals need. There is no emergency care for animals in distress, leading to delays in treatment and possible death.

• Food safety for the population, including inspection of prison farm animals (49 pigs, 30 goats, 1,500 chickens)
