The OAT examination uses the basic principles of a True / False concept. The result of this examination stands for a high majority of the course grading for each individual student at the NHTV’s ILM program. Opposing examinations, held at NHTV, have a standard percentage of reward ratio (1:1) for (in)sufficiently answered questions within the exam. The OAT however does not share these same requirements and has adopted a different set of success requirements.

Other Examination Requirements: (All examinations excluding the OAT)

A grade is needed of 5.5 (on a 10pt. scale) or higher, to pass the exam/course. This is equivalent to 55% (33/60 questions answered correct) from the student.

OAT Examination Requirements:

A grade is needed of 5.5 (on a 10pt scale) or higher. This is NOT equivalent to 55% (33/60)!

Instead, a 5.5 on the OAT exam is equivalent to 76% (46/60 questions answered correct)!

There are many more issues regarding the OAT examination that could be discussed, such as the the multi-interpretable questions that can not simply be categorized as True or False, but this petition is solely regarding the success requirements of the OAT examination.

Sign this petition in support of changing the OAT examination requirement of 76%, to the original 55% requirement!

Updates

January 16, 2014

The feedback I keep receiving from fellow students confirms just how unfair this grading standard truly feels. I am spending my afternoons documenting these discrepancies to present a formal case to the administration. This process is exhausting but I refuse to let them ignore the gap between our expectations and their reality.

January 16, 2014

Reaching this point has been exhausting but seeing this level of momentum keeps me focused on the goal. It is clear that the unfairness of the OAT grading is finally being recognized by those actually affected by it.

76% to pass is absolutely insane, no other class does this. Stop making it impossible for us to graduate!!

If over 60% of students fail then there is something wrong with the exam system - not how we study!

Couldn't agree more, I understand why you want this petition to focus on just the examination requirements. Nice job!

The exam should be curved if there is such a low success rate!
