Sign & Join the Protest! We are calling on the Board of Trustees of Izmir University of Economics to cancel their tuition raise for the international students for the 2024-2025 Academic Year and to commit itself to alternative sources of revenue.
While the increase of the tuition fees of the Turkish students might be understandable because of the value change of the TRY and its equalization with the USD, the international students are paying in USD because of which the fees increase is not reasonable and acceptable.
This hike would have severe implications:
1. Financial Hardship: Many international students already face significant financial challenges. Higher fees could force them to abandon their studies.
2.Equity and Accessibility: Education should be accessible to all. Increased fees disproportionately impact students from low and middle-income countries.
3. Diversity and Inclusion: A fee increase risks reducing the number of international students, diminishing our university’s cultural and academic diversity.
4. Global Reputation: Higher fees could harm our university's reputation as a top destination for international talent.
5. Economic Contributions: International students significantly contribute to the local economy and the university’s financial health.
We urge the Board of Trustees and the administration of the Izmir University of Economics to reconsider this increase and explore alternative funding strategies that do not burden international student.

I feel like this is not fair to us as international students. We all come with a planned budget to the university. I hope the university sticks to what it said in the first year when we applied to this university. I hope this will be taken into consideration. Thank you
The tuition fee for international students is too expensive. When we first registered in this university,they told us the price is fixed.
This is just not right
We've been told from day one that university prices are fixed, so it's unfair to raise them suddenly.
it's not fair to increase the university fees out of the sudden, and we were informed it's a fixed price since day one.
Lower the tuition fees and make it fixed as it was before
It's not norm for increase price when we sign conctract with university

I can’t pay this amount and also 4000$ is so expensive, we don’t have work now because we have a war in my city (GAZA,PALESTINE)
