  • Petition Against Mandatory Purchase of Practical Record Pages

We, the undersigned students of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department, wish to formally raise our concern regarding the recent directive requiring students to purchase practical record pages exclusively from the department.

We believe that this requirement is unfair and places an unnecessary financial burden on students. Many of us already have access to standard, good-quality practical pages that meet academic requirements. Restricting us from using such materials without valid academic justification limits our freedom of choice and creates avoidable expenses.

Additionally, no official academic guideline or university regulation has been clearly presented to justify why only department-issued pages are considered eligible. Transparency regarding this decision is lacking, and students have not been given an opportunity to express their concerns.

We respectfully request the following:

1. Students should be allowed to use any standard practical record pages that meet the required format and quality.

2. The department should provide a clear and official justification if any restriction is to be imposed.

3. Students should not be compelled to purchase materials exclusively from the department.

We value our education and respect the institution’s policies, but we also believe that decisions affecting students financially and academically should be fair, transparent, and reasonable.

We hope the department will consider our concerns and take appropriate action to resolve this matter.

Sincerely,

The Students of the CSE Department

I've already bought copies in wholesale at the start of session, I feel it will be just unnecessary waste of money if I buy it from my college

I respect the college’s intention to maintain uniformity, but forcing students to buy lab copies only from the college doesn’t feel fair. Many of us can find the same or better quality at lower prices outside, and some already have suitable notebooks. Giving students a choice would be more reasonable while still maintaining the required standards.

I am signing this to request more transparency and fairness. Students should not be compelled to buy materials exclusively from the department without a valid academic reason. Education should be about learning, not mandatory purchases. Let us use standard materials that meet the quality criteria.
