We, the undersigned students of KTU, respectfully submit this petition to request a reconsideration of the yearback policy being enforced on certain batches. The implementation of this policy, under the current academic and practical circumstances, is unjust and harmful to the affected students’ academic careers and mental well-being. We wish to bring the following critical concerns to your kind attention:
________
THE MAIN POINTS WE REQUESTED TO WITHDRAW KTU YEARBACK
- THE EXISTENCE OF YEAR BACK WAS NOT KNOWN IN ADVANCE
- EVEN KTU COORDINATORS DO NOT KNOW
- DIFFULTY IN ADAPTING TO THE NEW 2024 SCHEME SYLLABUS AND EVALUATION PATTERN
- LAST SEMESTER SUPPLY RESULT WILL COME IN S5 END
- NO LOW PASS
- NOT RECEIVING CLEAR NOTICE(BEFORE END OF SEM)
- MANY STUDENTS FALL BEHIND BY 1 CREDIT YEAR
- S1&S2 CLASSES STARTED LATE
- THOSE UNABLE TO WRITE THE EXAM DUE TO THE MEDICAL ISSUE
- THOSE WHO CANNOT DO SUPPLY EXAM REGISTRATION WITHOUT REVALUATION RESULTS
- ANOMALIES IN NEW 2024 SCHEME
1) THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WHO FAILED THE EXAM WITH LOW MARKS DUE TO LACK OF LOW PASS
2) HUMBLE REQUEST FOR TEMPORARY CREDIT RELAXATION
MANY STUDENTS HAVE EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH INACCURATE OR INCONSISTENT EVALUATION OF ANSWER SCRIPTS. ADDITIONALLY, THE REVALUATION RESULTS ARE NOT BEING PUBLISHED IN TIME, LEAVING STUDENTS IN UNCERTAINTY. THIS DELAY HAS DIRECTLY AFFECTED STUDENTS’ ABILITY TO CLEAR SUBJECTS AND AVOID YEARBACK, DESPITE BEING ELIGIBLE OR CLOSE TO PASSING.
- ENFORCING THE YEARBACK RULE WILL RESULT IN STUDENTS LOSING AN ACADEMIC YEAR, WHICH WILL SEVERELY AFFECT THEIR JOB PLACEMENTS, INTERNSHIPS, HIGHER EDUCATION PLANS, AND MENTAL WELL-BEING. IT ADDS AN UNNECESSARY BURDEN ON STUDENTS WHO ARE ALREADY STRIVING TO CATCH UP POST-PANDEMIC
- CONSIDER THE MENTAL HEALTH AND FINANCIAL CONDITION OF STUDENTS BEFORE TAKING ACADEMIC DECISIONS
WE SINCERELY HOPE THE UNIVERSITY WILL TAKE A STUDENT-FRIENDLY DECISION AND PROVIDE NECESSARY SUPPORT TO STUDENTS AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE.

Due to academic difficulties and the challenges faced during the course, we have not been able to secure the required credits within the stipulated period. Losing an entire academic year would have a significant impact on our education, financial situation, and future career opportunities. Therefore, we respectfully request the University to kindly reconsider our case and permit us to continue my studies to the next academic year while providing an opportunity to clear the pending subjects thro
Respected Sir/Madam, We, the students under the KTU 2024 Scheme, humbly submit this petition regarding the difficulties faced due to the implementation of the year back / minimum credit system. As per the current regulations, students are required to secure minimum cumulative credits for registration to higher semesters. Reports and student notices related to the 2024 scheme mention credit requirements such as 18 credits from S1 & S2 for S5 registration and 37 credits from S1–S4 for S7 registra

Remove the year-back system for all eligible students. Allow students to continue their studies while clearing backlogs within a reasonable time. Introduce student-friendly academic policies that maintain educational quality without causing unnecessary delays in graduation.

I strongly support this petition. Many students have worked hard despite facing academic challenges, and a year-back can have a huge impact on graduation, placements, higher studies, and personal circumstances. I hope the university considers a fair and compassionate solution that allows deserving students to continue their academic journey without losing an entire year.
