The city finally acknowledged our role by granting us the permit access we desperately needed. I am still processing this result because for so long it felt like we were hitting a wall. Thank you for helping me secure the ability to work without this constant stress hanging over us.

Final supporters
Due to recent changes in Bristol with residents parking scheme, it is very hard for us to get to work and do our jobs in private homes. As nannies we can't have parking permits for the houses we work in. Our employers have to give us daily paper permits. This is at a high expense and a limited amount. We can not buy parking permits, as our cars are not registered to our work addresses. Please sign the petition to get Nannies recognised as home carers. We can take this to George Ferguson the Mayor.

I am putting in so many extra miles just to find a spot before my shift starts because the current permit system ignores the reality of my job. We need to reach two hundred and fifty signatures before I present this to the Mayor. Please help me push this over the line so our work is finally recognized.

I have spent this week collecting stories from other nannies who are paying out of pocket just to reach the families that rely on them. The silence from the mayor's office is frustrating but it only motivates me to keep pushing forward until they acknowledge our role in these households.

It is very expensive to fund a daily pass and my nanny is my employee yet I can't get business permits for her. Other businesses in the street can give their employees permits - this is another tax on childcare for hard working familes
I have had to pay parking fines as parking outside of a child's home is unavoidable, especially with little ones. Visitors permits don't last long with a full time nanny and it is unfair for parents or nannies to have to pay so much to park where we work!
I used to took after 6 kids in Clifton. A car is essential for looking after children. Childcare is a profession that should come under the trade umbrella for cpz permits.
Having to have a parking permit to work at a resident's home needs to be considered. Individuals cannot pay for parking when employed as a nanny for example. A copy of a contract would be evidence of employment.
I work 5 days a week as a private nanny and I can't park outside or anywhere near the family home. Nightmare with 3 very young children, parking permit pretty please for us nannies.
To carry on what is a low paid caring job why put more pressure on the Nannies who already go through a lot to be approved and registered. This can also but a burdon on the employers to provide parking tickets for the employee's
as a nanny this is very much needed.
