Have you struggled to get your car seat into the car? Contorted your body into ridiculous positions or had to haul the seat over you from the other side of the car, risking banging your child against the car or hurting your back?
Do you know the Roads Service Northern Ireland has 33, 380 spaces and not one parent and child space? Let us remember this a public body- funded by the public! Parents with children are surely a sizeable enough portion of the public to warrant safe parking!
Asda and Tesco and other big retailers offer them as courtesy which is great, but sometimes you may want to support local shops and who owns most of the car parks in towns - yes the Road Service!
They say parent and child bays are not a legal requirement and would be too difficult to police. How hard could be to introduce a badge system, giving each new parent a badge valid for three years, similar to the disabled scheme? SIMPLE!
I say if takes a legislation to allow for us parents to get our children SAFELY in and out, then we will get legislation!
However as lone voice in the wilderness I can change nothing. PLEASE HELP and sign this petition.
The Roads Service claims that policing these spaces is too difficult but a badge system proves that is a convenient excuse for inaction. Post this link on your Facebook wall today to show them the demand for safer parking is not going away. Pick up your phone and email your local representative to demand they address this broken policy.

We hit a new level of momentum that proves the Roads Service can no longer ignore our safety. Post this link on Facebook to keep the pressure high and text three friends who deal with these impossible parking spots every day.

Try doing this with twins seriously. Road Service has no clue how hard it is to get two baby seats into a tight space without hitting the car next to you.

Bout time someone brought this up. It makes no sense that private shops do it but the actual public car parks dont care at all.
