The transport authority has officially confirmed the construction of a permanent mitigation structure for the A83. We now have a fixed commitment to move forward with this engineering solution. I will keep monitoring the project schedule to ensure the work begins as promised.
On the A83 at The rest and be thankful over the recent years there have been multiple landslides which have resulted in the road being closed. Argyll have had enough of being treated as second class citizens and now request that a permanent solution to this problem is provided to ensure our rural fragile community does not suffer any more as a result of what now appears to be an ever increasing problem
this road is a lifeline to the people who live and work there. I see no reason why the road cannot be sorted as all the roads abroad are constructed, with tunnels or canopies which cover the road and make it impossible for any debris to land on the road!

The A83 RaBT is critical to Argyll's economy. To steal a phrase from the 'big man' we need to hold the Scottish Government's 'feet to the fire' on this one to ensure our voices are heard and a proper solution is found. The SG is spending money all over the Central Belt and east coast - get some spent over here.

If this was the main access route to the Scottish Parliament it would have been resolved by now. Spend some money in rural areas rather than always on your back door ministers!!! I had to endure over a 3 hour detour home last night due to the A83 & A82 being closed. How is the new bridge coming along by the way??

Can you imagine the outcry if a major route into Glasgow or Edinburgh was closed every time there was a day of rain I bet you can so why are we being treated any differently.

Year on year this problem recurs whilst more and more money is wasted on temporary solutions that do nothing to install confidence in the residents and businesses of Argyll and Bute that this main artery will remain open and safe. 2000 tonnes of earth and rock this time are just a fraction of the hillside at risk and a long term solution needs to be found.

Argyll is suffering from awful infrastructure. Is it any wonder our population is shrinking?
