The government finally stopped hiding behind their arbitrary dates and agreed to pay every single veteran what they earned. This victory belongs to everyone who refused to let the Ministry of Defence treat our heroes like second class citizens. We forced them to do the right thing after decades of …
In a nutshell, we started a fight in 2002 to win pensions for all service personnel who had served less than 22 years and left between 1949 and 1975 without entitlement to a pension. Many of these personnel served before, during and after WW2.
These are the only public servant who are treated differently - Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Civil Servants, and Politicians ALL recieve pro-rated pensions for the number of years they have served provided they have served a minimum of 2 years, regardless of when they left service.
As you probably know, anyone leaving the Armed Forces after April 1975 has only had to serve 2 years to qualify for a pro-rated pension for the number of years they served. We don't decry what they have done to earn their deferred pensions - Goodness knows many soldiers and other personnel have died, and are dying, in recent and current conflicts; but what we do say is that, having created a precendent to pay ALL 'modern' personnel a pension, the Government should not have quantified its decision by creating a cut-off date to exclude all our 'old heroes and heroines'...It is not fair, morally or legally, to exclude these people.
Please sign this petition and help to fight this injustice.
The government continues to ignore these veterans while treating other public servants with total respect. This surge in support proves the public sees right through their pathetic excuses for this systemic theft. We are not backing down until the Ministry of Defence admits this discrimination is a stain on our country.

My grandad served in malaya and got nothing. It is a total disgrace how these men were treated after everything they sacrificed for this country.

Absolute shame. My uncle fought for all of us and now he struggles to get by while younger guys get their due. Fix this injustice now.

Ridiculous that they draw a line in the sand like that. A pension is owed for service period.
