To: Mayor Hersh, City of Weston Commissioners, and Weston City Manager
Peace Mound Park is the oldest most historical park in Weston, winning national awards for its design. The Tequesta Indians lived on the northernmost mound, high ground and protectoion from floods; they traded in the middle grounds, and used the southernmost area for burial grounds. We, the undersigned residents of Weston, respectfully request that proposed changes to this beautiful park be limited to the minimum necessary to achieve to achieve Weston equipment standards and Federal accessibility standards. while maitianing all aspects of safety and security for the local community. Specifically,
(i) Achieve accessibility standards without changing the topography of any area of the park.
(ii) No tree to be removed without an arborist certification that the tree poses a danger to the community.
(iii) No more than a 20% increase parking spaces, including the addition of two handicap parking spots.
(iv) Remove parallel parking from the plan to maintain pedestrian and vehicular safety.

Seeing this much energy behind the park makes me think back to the first time I walked those trails and realized how important the history is. It honestly feels like the tide is finally turning because people are actually paying attention to the topography and the trees now. I keep thinking about what it will feel like to walk through there once we get the city to listen to us about these changes.

This park is a piece of history. Stop trying to turn it into a generic concrete parking lot.
The natural layout is what makes this place special. Dont pave over our history just for the sake of 'standards'.
Fix the access issues but dont ruin the park. Common sense please.
KEEP PEACE MOUND THE WAY IT IS. My kids love playing here and the shade is the best part.
No reason to cut down healthy trees. Leave the land alone.

Parallel parking on that street is a disaster waiting to happen. Please rethink the plans.
