Are you tired of hearing planes take off and buzz over the Drew Valley, Ashford Park, and other neighborhoods surrounding PDK? Do you feel like they are too low when they come over your neighborhood?
Dekalb-Peachtree Airport provides a great service to our community and to Atlanta as a business and recreational airport hub, along with the fantastic playground and restaurants. Currently, however, PDK does not have any Standard Instrument Departure Procedures (SIDs) which could direct traffic in a reasonable, and safe manner that would mitigate noise over our neighborhoods and surrounding areas. These procedures, if put in place, could direct traffic over major highways (Buford Hwy, Peachtree Ind for example) while airplanes climb and it would greatly reduce the noise out over our neighborhoods. For example, White Plains, NY has extremely busy airspace, but there are procedures in place which direct traffic around the surrounding neighborhoods, with reduced thrust while climbing. This is a mutually benefiting scenario in which it mitigates ground noise, and minimally impacts safety.
I've personally spoken to a pilot who flies out frequently at night and he informed me it was no trouble to adjust his air path to reduce noise to the community. In fact, he has done so at my request. I've watched airplanes climb out of PDK over Buford HIghway and the difference in noise is incredible for our neighborhood.
The noise is getting out of hand as the airport gets busier. Air traffic for March 2016 was up 40% compared to March 2015. I would like residents of surrounding areas and The Drew Valley Community Association to sign this petition to request PDK and the FAA create "Standard Instrument Departures" for aircraft taking off to mitigate the noise over our neighborhoods. If not, we will continue to get buzzed all day and all night long, which hurts our home values, pollutes the air over Drew Valley. Not having mandatory airport procedures at an airport, in the middle of a city whether small or large, presents a real threat to our safety, air quality, and home values.
Please sign this petition if you would like to see the FAA set Standard Instrument Departure Procedures I would like to present this petition, with a large number of signatures, to the PDK Advisory Board and show them our support for enforcing such provisions.

I started this because the noise was becoming impossible to ignore but I truly did not think anyone else would notice. The stories so many of you are sharing about your own struggles at home are heartbreaking and they prove that this is a real problem for our community.

PDK has steadily become noisier in the 20 years I've lived in Drew Valley. Complaints are either ignored or stonewalled. Pilots are either not getting the message or are ignoring it. It's time to put some teeth into the situation.
The airport does not enforce recommended flight paths of aircrafts and helicopters buzz our neighborhood where they could be making high altitude arrivals/dept into PDK.
The late night flights that buzz DV have got to stop! What ever happened to the voluntary curfew that no flights after 11pm? also, what's the deal with the late night pilot that rockets out over Drew Valley instead of going down Buford Hwy to a certain altitude then turn right? That was what FAA had issued orders for and agreed to! Enough is enough!
Since The Atlanta Hartsfield air patterns were changed a few yrs, back, flight have been coming in, right over my home. Several times, I have just cringed, afraid they were going to crash into the house. I have lived here since the early 70"s, without much problem from airport, but this change is increasingly bothersome.
Kids and I are woken up several times a week in the middle of the night (around 2am) by the loud noise! So frustrating!!!! Please make it stop!
Live in the Mason Mill neighborhood and I hear the jets on approach to PDK all too well!
The frequency and the altitude of the helicopters flying over the neighborhood is absolutely ridiculous ever sense the touring companies started

The planes are getting larger and larger and the noise level is increasing, especially on Fridays and Sundays with corporate jets. I can read the numbers as they fly over my neighborhood!
