We, the undersigned parents and students of Houston County
Schools, request that the Houston County Board of Education consider
County Wide Middle School Volleyball for our students in 7th
& 8th grade. We feel that volleyball in our Middle
Schools will greatly benefit our student atheletes.
I have been associated with the Central Georgia Volleyball Association for over 5 years now and I have seen what this sport means to these athletes, both male and female. This is something that these young people depend on to ensure that they have a chance to attend college. Let's give them the opportunity to develop the required skills as early as possible. The city of Warner Robins and Houston County takes such pride in our student athletes that compete on the state, national and world stages, yet we are denying those that choose this sport that chance. Let make this happen.

Volleyball was an integral part of my teenage years growing up in Houston County. The athletes from around here have so much potential - by having volleyball teams in middle school, not only will that potential be maximized but hundreds of kids will be able find a sport that they love while supporting a healthy and active lifestyle.

Deefintely need this in middle school. Even when students can tryout in 7th grade, most will not make it if they have neever played. Also, transportation for practices and games becomes an issue.

Since Houston County doesn't gave an active Parks & Recreation Program, we need this more than ever. Exposure to a wider veriety of sports is ideal in the Middle School years.

This would be a wonderful opportunity for our middle schoolers. As a mother of a graduating senior HOCO volleyball player I wish she could have started to play in middle school. I have two other daughters one 10 and 7 and if given the opportunity want to desperately play middle school volleyball. Please allow our young girls the opportunity to be competetive at an earlier age for more opportunities for schlorship a later.

Many other states start volleyball in 5th and 6th grade. Our students are way behind in various levels starting volleyball at the high school level. Very unfortunate for our students!

As a parent of a volleyball player who recently signed to play at the collegiate level, volleyball scholarships can help defray the cost of college tuition.
