Our goal is to amend the JSD Dress Code to encompass the following:

Allow exposed collarbones/shoulders (tank tops must however have straps of some kind to prevent slipping), shirts that expose one’s back/have sheer fabric on the back, exposed legs (as long as one’s rear/groin are appropriately concealed), and allowing crop tops that do not extend past one’s ribs (crop tops must have sleeves).

Provide all competition teams with shorts/skirts that are comfortable to wear, non-revealing, and do not limit athletic ability. This clothing shall adhere to the amended dress code.

Students face discipline for outfits that are not vulgar/distracting and some competition team members feel as though their uniforms are uncomfortable, revealing, and limit their athletic ability. Most female teams are issued uniforms that do not fit the current dress code regulations. JMHS and JLHS are dressing their students in a fashion deemed inappropriate and revealing by their own dress codes.

Our clothes are not distracting and do NOT limit anyone's learning ability. The code is constantly validated by, "Boys will get too distracted! You know how they are at this age."

Boys are NOT mindlessly controlled by urges and girls are NOT "asking for it" by dressing expressively. Let's work together to ensure that the Board of Education prioritizes learning over the possibility of "urges" and "distractions." Too many students, especially in the warmer months, are sent home unjustly.

This petition seeks the support of parents of JSD students. It is not limited only to parents of high school kids. We need support from parents of current or future JMHS/JLHS students. We invite any supporters of this petition to follow our social media for progress updates.
