This is an open letter and petition to members of the Shakopee High School Administration, District 720 School Board, Athletic Director, members of the Board of the Shakopee Youth Hockey Association, and any others who have a voice in naming the next Shakopee Varsity Boys Head Hockey Coach. We the undersigned want to express our support for, and urge the hiring of Calvin Simon to the open position that he is currently holding on an interim basis.
As members of the Shakopee community, and the greater Minnesota hockey community we feel that it is important that our strong support be heard. Calvin Simon is a coach of amazing integrity, a great motivator, a role model, possess great leadership skills, is a wonderful communicator, and extremely knowledgeable about the game of hockey. He has demonstrated active participation in the Shakopee Youth Hockey Association building relationships with players and parents. He teaches our players many life lessons including how to be a good student on and off the ice. If Calvin becomes the next Boys Shakopee High School Hockey coach we believe we will see the positive momentum that he has already displayed this season continue.
We ask for a swift, decisive ratification of his appointment.

I checked the count and we are almost at one hundred signatures which just feels huge right now. If you have a hockey parent group chat or just a friend who wants to see Coach Calvin stay then please send this their way because the school board is definitely paying attention to the speed of this growth.

Being the manager of boys high school team this past season I got a better look than most at the energy and pride Calvin brings to the team and youth assosation. No one is better for the job.
Calvin’s focus on helping kids develop as hockey players and people is spot on. He has the passion, commitment, leadership skills and hockey knowledge to build a great culture and long-term success for the program. The fact that he is also from Shakopee is a great bonus for Shakopee hockey.
Although we are straight up Chaska Hawk fans, I'll sign this petition. He shown true leadership and sportsmanship qualities in that last game! It was great seeing you again, Calvin and I hope to see you again on Chaska ice. May the best men win!
Although I don’t want to sign, it is only because we miss him in the Lakeville Hockey Community. My son has regularly stated that if his entire hockey team was no longer on the team, but Calvin was still the coach, he would still want to be on that team. He is a builder of hockey players and, more importantly, a builder of young men.
I have known Coach Calvin for several years as he coached Lakeville South’s youth programs and beyond. He understands the game, how to get the best out of the kids but BEST of all, he teaches the young athletes how to be exceptional human beings because he leads by example! He would be a game changer for the program!
As an autistic adult living on my own, Matt Dumba is a role model to me and I absolutely love the Minnesota Wild
