The residents of the Paradise Point neighborhood, located aboard Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, respectfully request the following actions be taken by MCI East via the Provost Marshals Office and Base Safety Office to decrease speeding and aggressive drivers on Seth Williams Blvd and other secondary streets and to adequately maintain the safety of the children and families living in this neighborhood:

-Diligently monitor speeders and aggressive drivers on Seth Williams Blvd, between Cooper Street and Charles Street via active presence of MPs on this stretch of the road.

-Diligently monitor speeders and aggressive drivers on Eden Street and Bevin Street, via active presence of MPs on these streets.

-Lower the speed limit from 30 MPH to 25 MPH on Seth Williams Blvd. to discourage nonresidents from using this road to access the Wilson Blvd. gate.

-Raise the speed limit from 45 MPH 55 MPH on the Wilson Blvd Bypass to encourage nonresidents to consistently use this road or Brewster Blvd to access the Wilson Blvd Gate thus avoiding residential streets.

Thank you.

Updates

June 23, 2017

The feedback I have received from residents regarding the reckless driving on Seth Williams Boulevard confirms that this is a significant safety concern for our community. I am currently preparing a formal correspondence to the Provost Marshal's Office to address these specific traffic patterns. Your continued participation remains essential as we advocate for these necessary adjustments to base policy.

My husband was hit by a car while riding his bicycle on Seth Williams past Stone St traffic light about a week ago. The car did not even stop :(

Still too many non resident commuters coming off the Wilson exit down Charles and Seth Williams. I've witnessed it every morning driving child to the high school at approximately 7:30 am, and then returning home with tailgaters almost hitting me slowing to turn in my driveway on Seth Williams. A resident only/authorized guest only or no commuter sign needs to be put up at Charles and also Marston in addition to the recommendations above. A random PMO resident check stop at the OClub area turning people around that don't live here (as done in the past) in addition to the sign. Put out a message to all units that commuters are no longer authorized through housing.

Cars fail to halt for pedestrian crossings on Seth Williams (bikes, children, walkers) at the tennis courts and park especially during peak hours in the morning and afternoon. It is scary how folks are focused on getting to and off work and don't look at all!

With homes on that road and children in front yards, 30 is way too fast.

Excellent ideas. I'm tired of being passed by young Marines. while driving the speed limit on Seth Williams.
