3 years. 3 different scheduled school hours. Unheard of. We (the students of Spring ISD) have been notified of the intent to change scheduling for the 2012 - 2013 school year. The question is this: what is so difficult about having the same school hours as most high schools in our area? For the 2010 -2011 school year we operated on a schedule from 7:15AM - 2:30PM which allowed high school students to come to school early and finish their extra-curricular activites in time to compensate other necessary after-school engagements. Some of us have jobs. Some of us have younger siblings to pick up. Some of us find it difficult to finish after school activities at 5 - 6:00PM and still complete homework and projects before 12:00AM the next day.

The hours for Klein High School, Klein Collins High School, Klein Oak High School, and Klein Forest High School are 7:25AM - 2:25PM. Granted that we operate on a similar schedule and participate in extra-curricular activities (ie. athletics practices, band rehearsals, clubs & organizations) that take a maximum of 2 hours, we'll still finish at 4:25. That's close to the time we're just getting out of school now.

We are the students. We are the ones who have to deal with these hours. We are the ones who have to stay up until 2:00 in the morning finishing homework even though we are dead tired from participating in extra-curricular activities that some of us currently don't finish until nearly 6:00PM, with the exception of band members who don't finish until 8:00PM. The district is worried about money, something we would have more of if the students, the foundation, didn't have to attend school everyday (with the exception of Thursdays) sleep deprived. You can't fix something that isn't broken, let us have our hours back.
