We, the residents of the Oyster River School District formally request and strongly encourage the School Board of the Oyster River Cooperative School District to restore the end-of-meeting public comments, for a total of two comment sections, to their regular meeting agenda.

The ending comments allow the public to offer suggestions and insight, as well as raise concerns on issues that were discussed or acted upon at the meeting.  Unlike the first comment section, which focuses on the planned agenda, the second comment section would focus on direct feedback to discussions and actions of the meeting.  Also, the public watching at home will frequently see issues being discussed, and then come to the meeting to speak.  This is not possible without the second comment section.

The second set of comments were removed because at the time, a large number of people attending, so comments could last an hour.  Recently, comments have lasted in the few minutes range, with only a small handful of people speaking.  Restoring the second comments section would not delay any important discussions or decisions, and would be very short if current attendance holds.

Ridiculous to cut off public input. We have a right to talk about what just happened in the meeting while it is still fresh. Bring it back.

Used to be a core part of the process. Makes no sense to remove it now when nobody is even taking up the time.
