We the undersigned, do hereby express our opposition to the proposed construction of "Mount Racemore" in Pennington Gap, Virginia, in the County of Lee. We feel that the proposed project is a misuse of funds that could be more effectively used to start economic growth and improve the stability of the town and the county if used in other ways. We also feel that the proposed project does not fully reflect the culture and rich history of our community. We call for the immediate suspension of the project, and if possible the return of funds already appropriated. We call for the Pennington Gap IDA to refocus its attention to projects that will promote real and lasting economic benefits and improved appreciation of our heritage.

We need jobs and better schools not another monument that just sits there. Seriously look at the state of this place.
Total misuse of funds. Focus on the actual issues not vanity projects.

This is ridiculous. We have enough problems with the roads and schools around here without wasting money on some silly mountain thing nobody asked for.
