WE, THE UNDERSIGNED CITIZENS OF North Haledon, New Jersey AND/OR INTERESTED PARTIES, HEREBY PETITION the Borough of North Haledon’s elected leaders and/or appointed officials to steadfastly REJECT any and all proposals for construction, erection and operation of a cell tower and cellular base station at or around the vicinity of 5 Sicomac Rd.
This petition urges the North Haledon Officials to turn down the proposal based on several factors, including:
1) Recognition of potential long term health effects due to exposure to low-level, non-cellular heating EMFs, particularly the risks posed to children;
2) Consideration of the impact on property owners. The Federal Communications Act of 1996 states that property values and aesthetics are valid reasons for a municipality to deny zoning for a cell tower or antenna. The proposed cell tower is in a residential area directly adjacent to residential properties.
3)The environmental impact of the construction and operation of a cell tower and cellular base station has not been established and said construction and operation may present a hazard to North Haledon residents, environment, and water supply.
4) The existence and presence of a cellular tower and its base station is not befitting of North Haledon's rural nature, nor does it belong in the landscape desired by the residents.

My mother's house is a block from this proposal and she has received to official indication of this proposal
These are protected wet lands. Construction will deter all animals from there natural habitat. That last thing we need is for all animal activist groups to be notified of this and north Haledon to be at the focus of these groups in a negative way. Let's vote this thing down so there are no issues
Living right next to where they want to put this thing is a nightmare. My kids play in the yard everyday and I am really worried about what those waves are doing to them long term. Find a spot in industrial zone or somewhere far from houses!
There are also studies showing that this will lower our property values by 20%-30% - Obviously, who would want to buy a house next to a cell tower!
I strongly support the request to reject the proposal as documented in the petition.

The mountain is protected land - we should protect the view of it also and preserve the character and aesthetics of our neighborhood. You can choose to use a cell phone or choose to eat healthy food, but if this cell tower goes in we have NO choice. Please come to the Planning Board meetings! Next one is February 5! This monstrous Cell tower only brings service to approximately a square mile of a dead area - more cell towers will need to go up in our town to provide AT&T with the service they desire - the next one may be in YOUR back yard.
