We need folks to share their concerns about this potential x10 quarry expansion (on the various FB pages or by sending emails to [email protected])
We need folks to share any relevant photos of issues with the Quarry. Be it truck traffic, etc
We really need folks willing to volunteer their time to help organize, collect concerns, write and submit concerns on behalf of those who cannot. (seniors, disabled, etc)
Also, we need to collect signatures. Petition is below.
Petition to Respond to Public Concerns on the Proposed Mount Uniacke Quarry
Petition summary and background:
We, the undersigned, as residents and/or property owners of Mount Uniacke (NS), have concerns with regard to the proposed establishment of the quarry in our community by Northumberland Capital Corporation Incorporated (NCC). As of the dates of our signatures, we do not consider our formally submitted concerns to have been adequately addressed by NCC, the Province of Nova Scotia, or the Municipality of East Hants.
Action petitioned for:
We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to require the Nova Scotia Department of Environment to clearly address our concerns (in writing) and provide us the opportunity to provide a rebuttal to that response prior to the approval of the NCC quarry proposal. Should NSDOE choose to reject the NCC proposal a response will not be required.

We do not need this expansion, the infrastructure is not in place for this and our homes and wells will definitely be compromised
I believe this expansion size is ridiculous and will have harmful impacts on the environment and the community along with severely hurt the resale values on houses in the area
Past following of restrictions predicts future following of restrictions. Definitely must be affecting the surrounding area as it has been reported that trucks are a hazard to the access rd and main routes . With climate change Mt Uniacke is trying to protect our community including our many lakes .
We do not want the purposed query in our cumminity, we do not want the damage it's going to bring to our cumminity .

To Whom it May Concern; I am a concerned citizen of Mount Uniacke with a home located fairly close to the said expansion. I am against the quarry expansion. Some of the reasons I am against it are as follows: Noise pollution Air pollution Water pollution Well damage Foundation damage Dust and debris Health concerns due to the blasting Property and home damage due to the expansion and blasting that comes from the expansion Resale and value of my home Quality of life Wildlife habitat destruction The speeding of the trucks carrying materials The condition of roads from the dump truck traffic. The residential community of Mount Uniacke is not the correct area for a quarry of this size. It’s affects too many homes and lives.
