Petition to strongly oppose now and in all future requests, by Skinquarter Land LLC, its affiliates, partnerships or any subsequent owners of area land  any request to permit the disposal/storage of coal combustion byproducts including, but not limited to “fly ash”, and/or recycled automobiles -automobile shredder residue (ASR) in the Skinquarter Construction/Demolition/Debris Landfill located on Hull Street Rd. 

I, the undersigned, strongly oppose this request for the following reasons:

1. Economic Impact on 2 area fruit and vegetable farms, Richmond Metro Zoo, and  reduced revenue in property taxes because of decline in property values impacted by potential contamination to air, crops, livestock and water.

2.  Environmental Impact on Chesterfield County water including Swift Creek Reservoir, Lake Chesdin, local wells and ground water to wetlands, creeks, streams, and ponds due to contamination through air, runoff and seepage into the groundwater. Concerns exist for area wildlife exposed to the fly ash and fluff, including, but not limited to fish, birds, local bee populations and the animals at the zoo located in some spots less than a mile from the plat.

3. Public Service Impact on 3 area schools (Grange Hall, Cosby, and Winterpock) with increased health risks to staff and students, substantial increase in truck traffic, and the county’s lack of a comprehensive plan for the following:  evacuation and relocation of students,  traffic safety and congestion between 288 and Grange Hall, water replacement for contaminated wells, and necessary compensation for reduced property values.
