Mountainside, a for profit drug and alcohol treatment center, has submitted application to the Ridgefield Planning and Zoning Department to open a treatment facility at #162 (Sunset Hall) and #150 Old West Mountain Road.

Our mission is to express strong opposition to the Mountainside's application for a zoning amendment and special permit to operate in this residential neighborhood. We believe that the town "Plan of Conservation and Development" (POCD) supports our position, and for the Town Planning and Zoning Committee to vote otherwise, would be a violation of said town plan.

It is NOT our position to debate the need or lack of need for a rehab facility in our area.

Please attend a very important Public Hearing on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, when you will have the opportunity to give voice to your opposition.

Thank you.

This is unfair to the citizens of Ridgefield to negatively effect an already struggling real estate market in our town by allowing this one sale. We have already had cancelled showings, due to this, at our home which is on the market and nearly a mile away. This negatively impacts the whole town for one sale

Not a good precedent to carve out a commercial use here (especially such a large commercial use) in a firmly entrenched residential area. If the business should fail, what to do with the large, remote property enisled in a sea of residences?

A commercial drug and alcohol detox facility is a completely inconsistent use in this residential setting, which is also adjacent to a Little League ball field and an elementary school. I'm hopeful that the P&Z officials will exercise their judgment and wisdom to reject this zoning change.

This deviation from our existing zoning laws impacts all of Ridgefield. Traffic will increase and well water usage for the facility significantly threatens the neighboring water supply. Commercial zoning has no place on a 25 mph, narrow and twisting 2-lane road with adjacent stone walls on either side.

We moved to Ridgefield in 2003 because of its history & reputation for protecting strict and consistent zoning. There is no sensible reason to consider injecting this commercial use in the middle of a prime residential area. P&Z should reject this application without further consideration.

I live at 27 Doubleday Lane and strongly oppose Mountainside's application. My expectation is that the Town Planning and Zoning Committee will respect the town's Plan of Conservation and Development and reject this application.

I oppose any change in zoning from residential to commercial in Ridgefield neighborhoods.
