Covid-19 in MN has brought rapid and unexpected changes to our society. People are working from home and gyms are closed. Vehicular traffic has never been so low. The outdoors is one of the few places now for people to get exercise and improve their mental health. Yet the walking and biking paths are not large enough for people to maintain social distances. It’s time to open up our parkways to the masses of people who are walking, biking, and rolling.

I started this because the paths felt crowded and unsafe but I never expected so many of you to feel the same way. Reading your stories about needing a place to move safely reminds me why we are pressing for this change. This momentum belongs entirely to you and your willingness to speak up.

I am truly stunned by the momentum this has gained lately and I keep reminding myself that this belongs entirely to the people who chose to speak up. It is humbling to see so many neighbors agreeing that our paths should be safer for everyone. Thank you for showing me that this idea was worth putting out into the world.

This is an obvious benefit to people self-distancing during the Covid-19 pandemic and an incredibly low-cost way for the city to provide some measure of aid to folks in a tough situation

Many folks have to use their bikes in lieu of public transportation during this difficult time. Please help us maintain social distancing while similarly opening up avenues for folks to move about on their bikes.

We were out this weekend and it was so important to be out with our children but it was far too crowded. This isn’t going to end quickly and for the benefit of our community these areas need to be opened up, if temporarily, to the people, to use.

This would really help us maintain a social distance while getting outside for our mental and physical health. With vehicle traffic so light, there are plenty of other options for drivers.

I live near Cedar and Minnehaha Parkway and it was hard to be on Minnehaha trail and stay six feet away. I ran into the grass several times to give lots of distancing, but it was hard in the wooded or crowded areas. It's important to get outside right now and we should make it easy for people to be outside and be safe.

My ride on West River Road yesterday was very unpleasant. Even though it was only 42 degrees, the trail seemed more crowded than the busiest days in summer. At the very least, we need to make the parkways 1-way to vehicle traffic. and use the remaining road space to allow safe passing distances to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Please .

I agree. Open up our parkways for their owners, the public.
