We, the parents and guardians of RCHK children, respectfully request that RCHK sets up online classes for students during the ongoing closure of Hong Kong Schools resulting from the threat of the COVID-19 virus to public safety.

The current home-learning arrangement is not particularly effective, and requires a great deal of parental supervision. Other schools and Universities have implemented live online classrooms which provide far better structure for home-learning and enable immediate two-way communication between students and teachers. We feel that RCHK should be offering the same.

I really did not think this would take off like it has when I first clicked publish while drinking my lukewarm coffee this morning. It feels like such a relief to know I am not the only one feeling lost in this mess of home learning and honestly it is just nice to feel like we are finally being heard on this.

Totally agree with that. I have 3 children. It is really challenging for me to supervise all the school work of 3 children at home at the same time.

Students can’t focus throughout the day on learning by themselves. It is suggested that students may follow the normal class schedule with their different teachers. Teachers may teach and students may also interact among themselves by using online platforms like Google Meet, Zoom or Webinar.

Online/distance learning is urgently needed. The current format of assignment puts a lot of stresses to both children and parents. Kids are loosing the passion to work on various tasks. Everyday, we have to chase kids to submit their work. A half day online classes can be considered. Otherwise, this current format will create a lot of family conflicts.

My University is adopting synchronous ZOOM classroom and asynchronous online teaching as a supplementary measure. The combined way may be worthwhile to try for the primary students.

Support. The teaching responsibility should be RCHK teachers instead of teachers writing long emails to parents urging to follow up on students homework.

i think some regular web calsses, perhaps even a subject per day along the week, will sure help kids to keep up and follow during this stay home period
