Dear Mr. Radday and WHB School Board Members:
We believe the Westhampton Beach School District reopening plan, like many other districts have done, should include a REMOTE LEARNING OPTION for all children and a COMPREHENSIVE LEARNING PLATFORM with LIVE-STREAM TEACHING beginning this fall for any children who are learning from home (either by parent's choice, because it is their off-day, or in case we need to shut down again).

I have been staring at my inbox for hours reading all these messages from families who are just as worried as I am about what the school year is going to look like. It is honestly overwhelming how many of you are feeling the exact same anxiety regarding the lack of a real remote plan and I am trying my best to compile these thoughts into something coherent for the board members to actually process.

Please ensure a distance option from Day 1 with live teaching for elementary, Middle School and High School.
How do you expect for elementary children to social distance and wear masks all day. How much do you expect them to learn when they are uncomfortable ( wearing masks) and not able to social with their friends. How are children with special needs going to get the services they need. Are you willing to let our children not just children with special needs fall behind because they can't get teachers for online virtual classes. Where other schools are doing and or offering parents the choice to send children in school or online virtual school with teachers. Also schools are doing or offering part in school days and online virtual classes with teachers all day on the off days. Children can't be wearing masks for over 6 hours a day with only a couple of minutes for masks breaks.
You will all be remote when people start getting sick, so give parents that option right up front. Opening schools is designed to fail.
Do the right thing, and give parents an option during these unprecedented times.

Live, zoom remote learning should have been worked on & finalized over the summer .. other districts have already done this! Keeping our kids and teachers safe and healthy should be paramount!!! Riverhead and William floyd have already implemented..they listened to the concerned parents.. our district takes pride in their technology foward program YET can not even offer live, zoom remote learning? It isn’t that difficult...
