Discovery Park, located within Columbus (Dublin mailing) currently operates as “open” until 11 p.m. The park shares its borders with both an elementary and a middle school and is located within a neighborhood. The climate and crowd using the park changes drastically after the sun goes down. Neighbors of the park have witnessed and reported to the non-emergency police line drug incidents, under-aged drinking, fighting, noise, and general disruption in the area. Discovery Park is also having a problem with graffiti. Police will not respond to complaints before 11 p.m. (even on school nights) because the park is considered “open”. Most of the disruption is occurring after dark; therefore, we would like to propose the hours of operation be limited to daylight (dawn-dusk) and posted accordingly.
