On June 1,2009 the Chicago Police Dept lost one of our own to Gang Gun Fire . While investigating a shots fired call at 60th & Hermitage Officer Valadez was speaking to a citizen when two convicted felons drove by in a car and fired shots at Officer Valadez Strking him in the head and leg. These shots were fatal to the 27yr. old Officer. The shooter of this incident was convicted March 20 2008 of Agg. Unlawful use of a weapon and given 2yrs probation also he was charged in 2006 firearm w/ no valid foid plus 12 other arrests.Why was he give probation when he was supposed to spend a year or more in prison . The driver of the vehicle that killed Officer Valadez was convicted of Armed Robbery with a firearm in January of 2008 and given probation . Both of these offenders should have been behind bars but instead they were given probation by cook county judges .LETS MAKE IT MANDATORY FOR UUW CONVICTIONS VIOLENT OFFENSES TO GET NO PROBATION . The police do there jobs lets make sure these judges are held accountable for letting these gang members back on the streets. NO MORE PROBATION The undersigned citizens of the State Of Illinois do hereby protest the Cook County Judges giving probation to aperson convicted of a Unlawful Use of Weapon or a violent crime against person such as robbery we want mandatory sentancing
