I go to Forest Preserve of Cook County Schiller Playfield area with my dog very often. Recently there are more coyotes there, that are very used to people and not afraid of dogs. Few weeks ago I was chased and followed by one coyote, even though my dog was on a leash. I want to start petition to Cook County Forest Preserve to create a off-leash dog park at the south-east part of this area. It is mostly used by dog owners, walking their dogs there, and it would be great to have fun with your dog, without looking out for coyotes all the time. It does not need to be big, one fourth of this area will be enough, at the corner of W Berteau Ave and N Thatcher Ave, south of Schiller Brook. If you live in Chicago Dunning/Norridge neighborhood and have a dog, please consider to sign my petition.

The messages I receive from fellow dog owners about their own uneasy encounters with coyotes in the area keep coming in. It is exhausting to constantly be on guard during what should be a simple walk but knowing I am not the only one feeling this way gives me the resolve to keep pushing the forest preserve for a response.

Yes!!! We really need this in the neighborhood. So tired of having to drive all the way to Portage Park just to let my pup run around safely.
The coyotes are getting way to close lately. I stopped taking my dog there because im worried about her safety. A fenced in spot would be perfect.
This dog park is definitely needed in this area. The closest parks in this area are in Norwood and portage park areas.
agreed. those coyotes are no joke. my dog is small and i dont even feel safe walking him near the woods anymore.
Great idea. The corner of berteau and thatcher is the perfect spot for this.
