We, the Christopher Newport University Community, request that off campus housing be permitted for all Christopher Newport University students with at least 60 credit hours. Further More, we request that a dialogue be opened for all members of the CNU community to come together and brainstorm a workable solution to this issue. We request that this process be acknowledged by Christopher Newport University staff, and that a diologue be opened by end of term, Spring 2016

It's ridiculous that my daughter can not commute. We live 14 miles away. I'm sure CNU employs staff who live further away than we do. It's time to put the financial needs and well being of the CNU students ahead of profit. CNU wants to create a well rounded atmosphere, then they need to change thebcampus housing policy and stop stressing out the students.

If students could live off campus, it would not only provide more living opportunities for those continuing to live on campus, but could support the surrounding areas as well.

CNU has WAYS to go in fixing their broken housing system. To expect your students to live 3-4 years on campus without having the means to support those numbers (especially with Class sizes increasing every year) is ridiculous. Give students this choice and stop tripling Freshmen in rooms and forcing Upperclassmen to live in random housing because YOUR administration messed up.

My daughter attends CNU. I'm not as concerned about the cost difference although it does matter, I think off campus housing offers choices and alternatives so students can choose what's right for them. It also is a way for them to transition from the protection of campus life to learning life skills.

I am without housing and am pissed I am told I can't go off campus though they can't provide me with the guaranteed housing I was told I would get when I got admitted to cnu

I agree that rising juniors should be allowed to live off campus, but it may be best to limit the amount of requests to live off campus so that CNU may still have a strong residential presence. Of course, still proving those with denied requests sufficient housing.
