I wholeheartedly support this petition, but please understand that the University will do everything in their power to try and 'sell' this change as a positive move on their part.
Trible will explain how, "CNU listens to it's students, and that's why we sat down with them to change our housing policies to better reflect their needs."
I implore any supporters of this petition to hold the administration accountable for letting the housing lottery get as bad as has through gross negligence and greed. They WILL market this petition as a good move on their part, trying to disseminate the blame so no one points fingers. Keep your fingers pointed.

There is not enough rooms to house everyone on this campus, and building a Greek Housing Complex is not going to fix it.

Either build more housing for students, or allow students the option to move off campus. The current situation At CNU makes no sense.

Housing definitely needs to address the issue of juniors needing to be randomly placed in a room. They are juniors, have roommates they would like to keep, and would not like to start over with a random room/suite mate situation. Please make the necessary adjustments for these juniors!

When CNU changes its housing policy, it needs to change from how many years a student is physically present on campus to just credits. Then, those of us that live right outside the commuter range will free up housing for students because we'll hit the 60 credit mark before the fourth year mark. It'll also free up the parking that CNU has slowly been getting rid of over the years/restricting to just residents. As a student who lives less than twenty miles away from the university, it doesn't sit right with me to treat the students this way. The whole reason a majority of Hampton Roads students don't apply to or attend CNU is because they'd be forced to live on campus and they don't receive the aid to cover it, so they turn to schools that cater to them, like ODU or NSU.

I believe that CNU has unrealistic expectations for students to live on campus for 4 years without the guarantee of priority housing for your year. Housing on campus is extremely expensive and to force students to stay on campus is ridiculous. Please take down the housing requirement.

Although I like that my son lives on campus and he prefers to live on campus, I agree that juniors and seniors should have the option to live off campus. Allowing juniors and seniors to choose to live off campus would free up housing for those who prefer to live on campus. Furthermore, allowing seniors to live off campus seems like a realistic transition from college life to the "real world" where they will not have a campus to live on.

CNU blatantly demonstrates their lack of concern for students on a DAILY basis. The administration is only concerned with generating more revenue for the school. I was drawn to this school because I didn't want to feel like just a number on a ledger at a large university. But now I have learned that money comes before students on every single occasion, and this disgusts me. If i wasn't already halfway through my studies, I would transfer because of this.

The simple and most expedient answer is to force the seniors who were never promised housing to lose their ability to stay on campus. While I love that my senior is on campus, my expectation when we enrolled at CNU was that he would need an off campus apt/house senior year. I did not realize that his staying caused so much agony for the juniors.

Our daughter is a rising junior and should be allowed to choose the roommates of her choice. She wanted to live in campus apartments but when her lottery time came up there was nothing left except singles that would be placed with randoms. Really? Her junior year in college and she will be forced to go random. CNU needs to release these students to find off campus housing. Waiting until July 31 is unacceptable and nothing will be available off campus.

It's ridiculous that my daughter can not commute. We live 14 miles away. I'm sure CNU employs staff who live further away than we do. It's time to put the financial needs and well being of the CNU students ahead of profit. CNU wants to create a well rounded atmosphere, then they need to change thebcampus housing policy and stop stressing out the students.
