OBJECTION TO THE PROPOSAL TO DESIGNATE PARKING BAYS IN HASLEWOOD AVENUE TO MARKET TRADERS ONLY

Broxbourne Borough Council are proposing to relocate designated parking for Market Traders vehicles on Market days. Currently Market Traders vehicles are able to park in the Burford Street Car Park during Market days, however this facility for Market Traders will be lost as part of the Tower Centre redevelopment. The Council are keen to ensure that the affect on the Towns Market is minimised and potential obstruction or congestion caused by displaced market traders vehicles is prevented. Therefore it is proposed to designate parking bays in Haslewood Avenue as Market Traders vehicles only between 6:00am and 6:00pm on Wednesdays and Fridays.

This Petition is an OBJECTION to the proposal due to the parking difficulties it would bring, but more importantly the SAFETY issues it would bring to the Children of St Catherine's school.

I have spent the last few days walking Haslewood Avenue during the school drop off and the congestion is already dangerous enough without adding trader vans into the mix. Getting clear answers from the council feels impossible right now but the safety of those children is worth the struggle.

Seeing the growing momentum behind this objection is draining yet validating because it shows I am not the only one worried about the safety of our children at school. The road ahead feels long and the council is being difficult but we have finally forced them to acknowledge that our neighborhood is watching. I am exhausted by the fight but the strength of this response gives me enough fuel to keep going.

SAFETY FIRST! Putting trade vehicles right by a school gate is a disaster waiting to happen.

What about the residents?? We pay for parking and now we lose it on market days. Find somewhere else.

This is ridiculous. The road is already a death trap at school drop off time. We dont need massive vans blocking the view of kids crossing the street.
