Toronto city council will be voting on the issue of approving a 80-bed male homeless shelter in the Leslieville Community. City council has asserted that they have heard our concerns and have taken steps to actively manage the community. To date, many of the residents have not been consulted and many concerns have yet to be addressed.
In Leslieville, we are a family friendly community with 3 elementary schools serving approximately 600 children between grades 1 through 6. We are house a senior home at the heart of Queen St. and Leslie St. With the addition of 80 men, we feel like our concerns have not been heard nor met. Please sign if you agree and help these people find those in need a better home and a more suitable community!
This is just not the right place for 80 men. We have so many young kids walking to school every morning on those streets, the city really needs to think about our safety first.
