NO MORE CUTS TO OUR SCHOOL BUDGET!

On May 12th 2010 the Town Council and Mayor of Englewood Cliffs will meet to discuss town business.  One of the items on the agenda is the Englewood Cliffs School District Budget.  In April, this budget was voted upon by members of the Englewood Cliffs community, and was not passed by a total of thirty-three (33) votes.  Now the budget is being presented to the Town Council, and we, the undersigned, respectfully ask that the Council Members and Mayor pass the school budget as it stands.

The State of New Jersey  cut 98% of our school aid; please do not make a bad situation worse by asking for the impossible and by searching for more reductions.  Drastic measures and cuts have already been made by the School Superintendent and the Board of Education.  Valuable and proven talented members of the school community from teachers, to aides, and other support staff will not be returning in the fall.  Important programs including art, music, computer technology, and physical education are being reduced.   Supplemental programs that make Englewood Cliffs one of the top school districts in Bergen County are now at risk.  Every line item and expense has been weighed and examined carefully; there is nothing else to cut!

As parents and members of the Englewood Cliffs community, we ask the Council and Mayor to hear our request.  In the end, the ones who will really suffer are the children of Englewood Cliffs; they are counting on you to do the right thing.  Please pass the school budget.

Signed,

Concerned parents and citizens of Englewood Cliffs,

Ridiculous. We pay enough in property taxes as it is. Fix the budget without gutting the classrooms.

My kids go to these schools and it is already getting so crowded. Cutting more money is just going to hurt their education. Stop the cuts!

The state already took everything they could. Keeping the budget as is the only way to keep programs running. stop playing games with our kids future
