We, the undersigned, support the Haddonfield Board of Education efforts to minimize budget cuts that could effect academic quality, including those cuts that would increase class size, and reduce class offerings.
In response to the state's $1.5 million cut in aid to our schools, we support the Board's decision to offset the shortfall with a recommended increase to the student activity fee and a tax levy increase of 4%.
The student activity fee is paid by those families who participate in after-school, extracurricular and athletic activities at the middle and high school level and has not increased in the past five years. At present, the Board subsidizes these after-school activities at a cost of more than $900,000.
Reaching this level of visibility feels heavy because it reminds me how many people are genuinely worried about the future of our classrooms. I am exhausted by the constant uphill battle but seeing this level of public backing gives me enough strength to push forward for another day.

PLEASE keep these programs. We moved here for the schools and this is a huge step backwards.

Increasing class sizes is just setting the kids up to fail. Bad idea.

Class size matters so much. A teacher cant give individual help to 30 kids at once.
