We the residents of Rossmoor bordering on the 405 Freeway petition a redress to Cal Trans, OCTA and all other participating entities including Agencies, Cities and Counties, and those involved in reducing noise and pollution levels to State Mandated Safety Levels in accordance with the freeway, road, and highway alterations that have been done and the proposed expansion plans.
This petition is directed to Cal Trans and participating Agencies to correct the improper height of the sound wall previously built over 26 years ago and to rebuild it to 16 feet above the grade of the freeway at its highest elevation. This needs to be calculated from the Southbound side of the 405 Freeway, which is higher than the Northbound side. We are petitioning that the new sound wall footings be built to withstand auto/truck impact as the freeway will now be immediately adjacent to the wall and our properties.
Rossmoor residents were not included in any EIR or sound testing for this expansion project. Therefore, these 3500 homes' residents bordered by the 405 Freeway and directly impacted by this project having no input, request the necessary correction to the project which included increased height of the sound wall, asphalt in place of concrete for the freeway lanes to reduce the sound pollution, and the use of dense, fast-growing trees such as Brazilian Pepper Trees instead of Pine Trees in all landscaped areas.

The constant roar from the freeway keeps my family awake every single night and we deserve better than this wall. We are getting very close to our first milestone and I need you to help push this over the line so the agencies finally pay attention.

Ridiculous that u guys didnt even bother asking the neighborhood before starting this expansion. sound wall needs to go up NOW.
WAY TOO LOUD. Cant even sit in my own backyard anymore.
Lived here 20 years and the roar of these trucks keeps me awake every single night. enough is enough.
The noise is unbearable already. Adding more lanes and not fixing the wall is just plain lazy planning by the city.
Just look at the concrete vs asphalt noise levels. its common sense but caltrans doesnt care about us.
My parents are original homeowners who moved in in 1960. At that time there was no 605 freeway. In the beginning, there were trees and a lot less traffic to block the noise. Over the years the trees have been cut back the wall that was supposed to go all the way across the 605 freeway to block the noise and possible cars in the event of accidents has never been fully completed. The noise is deafening not only to those of us with houses parallel to the 605 freeway but the noise carries across the street to our neighbors. The dust and dirt and allergens have become increasingly bad causing many of our children and my almost 91-year-old mother to have frequent sicknesses. The people who were supposed To measure the sound either never accurately did it from the beginning or haven’t been back in years since the traffic and congestion has increased. The lack of a wall or dense high trees along with the Noise pollution have become a private and public nuisance as well as a safety hazard for all the residents of Rossmoor living along side and near to the 605 freeway.

My kids bedroom faces the freeway its so loud it rattles the windows. fix the wall height immediately.
