There is no need for all hackney taxi to become wavs by April 2023 this petition will go to south glos licensing authority as they are trying to bring in this rule against the wishes of the drivers and there passengers in an area which is largely rural and in ten years as working as a hackney driver I have never had the requirement to have a wav so in this time of hardship the council think it is time to increase our running cost by £6,000 per year also these wavs are very uncomfortable for driver and passengers and there is not a demand for it either this is a fragrant disregard for the professional driver
The South Glos licensing authority is still ignoring the reality that professional drivers are facing real financial ruin. I am pushing for a direct meeting to force them to look us in the eye and explain why they want to impose these useless costs on our livelihoods.

With only approx 3% South Gloucs population registered disabled and only a small amount of that are full time wheelchair users, there is no need for 100% Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles. Unfair discrimination against hackney drivers as not being applied to private hire vehilcle. Also decreasing the choice of vehicles for customers to use. Not everyone wants to travel in a WAV.

I ask please that the arrangement you have had in place, for many a year, stay in place ,as times are difficult enough, and not all disabled people liked to be singled out..

Think this should be optional and drive will need more time to have this installed. The tomes are hard on us all and this will make anyone thing twice about becoming a black cab driver, as cost will be too high. Please allow them more time or make optional.

In addition to what my colleagues have said , we need at least five years to get out of the financial problems caused by the pandemic.
We would be very grateful if you could cancel this idea.
