The Town Board denied the zoning variance for the proposed site this morning. We will monitor the site plans to ensure this developer does not attempt a similar project in the future.

Love’s Travel Stops is filing paper work to build a truck stop along the I-190 South Bound on Grand Island.

The truck stop would be on the opposite side of the thruway from Fantasy Island.

A Representative from Love’s is quoted as saying “We are working through the development process. We look forward to working with local authorities.”

We are all proud of the changes being made to Grand Island in the form of Green practices, farmland protection and parkland creation. Help Grand Island.

Contact Loves and tell them we dont want them here. Ask the town board to represent your interests.

Tell them we don't want this on the island.

Please sign this petition if you are a Grand Island Resident, then share this on Facebook, in email, on Twittter, snapchat, instagram, reddit, on messenger. We need everyone who wants to see this project gone to sign this. Our voices are needed to show LOVES that we Islanders DO NOT want them here.

We have reached five hundred signatures on this petition. I am currently drafting a formal letter to the Town Board to ensure these objections are added to the official record for the next development meeting.

We do not want a truck stop on Grand Island especially on the Whitehaven exit. the traffic is already heavy at this exit with frequent accidents. The noise and exhaust fume would be detrimental to our community.

I just retired after 47 years in the transportation and logistics industry. The environmental issues that ultimately will harm Grand Island will happen if this truck stop is allowed. I've been involved in spill containment and cleanup several times. The loss and cost is just not worth it.

Although I don't live on Grand Island, I am still against this. GI is a gem, that many of us visit and enjoy throughout the year. This will be an incredible eyesore and goes against all the good work that has been done to keep Grand Island green and beautiful.

No thank you! Having been around Truck Stops all over the country with my ex husband who was a long haul truck driver I've seen what truck stops attracts. Predators and prostitutes to name a few of the undesirables. How many of us remember Jrs truck stop in the Falls. We don't want it.

We've worked hard to remove the tolls as part of our pursuit of cleaner air ... a truck stop would be taking us back even further! Absolutely not here on our beautiful island. Put it in Niagara Falls - it's only a few minutes drive away.

I am opposed to a truck stop on Grand Island. This would bring air and noise pollution to our community and be an eye sore. It would create traffic congestion at the site. Grand Island should promote its natural beauty and eco tourism notbtruck stops.
