Sorority presence on college campuses has been linked to a number of increased risks. Colleges with sororities have increased rates of binge drinking, eating disorders, negative body image, and rape cases. Additionally, sororities attract a different type of potential student than Swarthmore traditionally aims to attract. Swarthmore College prides itself on being different, unique. We are a student body away from the mainstream. Having a sorority would drastically alter the incoming classes, the attitude of Swarthmore College, and the social life and attitude that current students explicitly chose. Swarthmore students don't want a sorority: make our voices heard!
