This initiative is for using Students' Unity to compel DU Administration, Private PG Owners/Landlords to waive rent for the duration of lock-down & only collect from the time when the student moves back to the place.
First Step - Large scale appeal to landlords to waive rent
Second Step - Appeal to DU & Govt for aid
Third Step - PIL/Petition in Court against the rent for lock-down period

Updates

May 17, 2020

The DU administration remains completely silent while private landlords continue to bleed students dry for empty rooms. I am currently organizing legal counsel to prepare for the court battle because these vultures will not stop until they are forced to.

May 17, 2020

The administration thought we would just roll over and pay for empty rooms while they sat on their hands. This surge of momentum proves they were dead wrong and now they have no choice but to acknowledge the fury of every student who refuses to be exploited.

Owners argue that they also have to give rents to actual building owners and they cant waive it. This needs to taken in consideration too

The sources of income of many parents have been affected badly in this lockdown period.Due to which they all are making their livelihood on savings only. There is no hope to get back the normal life soon or to avail same income as many of them used to do. So, I request to look into the matter with utmost sincerity. University of Delhi is a platform where students from diverse background comes and do their best to shine like a star in such a competitive environment. So,I request to take possible and earliest steps to waive the rent of period of lockdown. So, that no student leave their dream in between just because of economic hardship. I'm confident that you will take a big decision in welfare of future of the country i.e., Students.

Rent should be waived off as we were not living their due to global pandemic. If we know about this before then we make that place empty and bring all our material to our home. Bcoz rent is high and its difficult for our parents to pay the whole rent as we also dont have source of income during this pandemic

MHRD , should give average money of rs 6000 for paying rent to the house owner as house owner is not following any government guideline for rent.
