We’re asking parents and learners to stand together against holding the Brackenfell matric farewell in mid-winter 2026. Every year, the cold weather prevents outdoor photos, limits venue options, and forces students to dress in extremely cold weather. Let’s move this special event to a warmer time of year — for next year and the years to come

I see they have removed the original post from the Parents group on Facebook due to the petition. I heard today that apparently the girls are scared to sign the petition incase of the school canceling the dance. Parents can come together and hire a venue with catering which each students' R750 will cover and have small change??
As een van die Matriek leerders van 2026 sal dit beter wees om die Matriek dans te skuif na somer omdat dit is beter sodat niks kan nat raak nie en kinders raak dan nie siek nie van die koue en fotos kan dan gebeur vir almal wat dit wil neem in buite plekke dit sal baie waardeur word as dit kan gebeur dat dit in somer is
I think from personal experience it should be held more in summer time or in spring time or well theres not much time in spring but to have it in winter is not a good time because its cold it could be raining and it just spoiles the photos and the walk-ins and the special moment and i feel that it should be held in summer time when its nice and warm and that the children can enjoy there special day
I don't want a winter matric farewell because you pay a lot of money to do your make-up and hair then it rains and it goes off and then you must wear a feather coat because it's raining i don't like winter matric farewells

We think that summer would be better than winter because we are wearing dress and in winter it might rain or be cold and probably not lovely weather where in summer its warm and we can take nice photos on the day of the mx dance with out worrying about weather.
