Victory Temple/Redeemed Christian Church of God is requesting a water/sewer category change in order to build a 60,000 sq. ft. church with 750 parking spaces at the corner of Mt. Oak and Church Road in Bowie, Maryland. They are planning to:

1. build the church on 19 of the 29 acres of land.

2. build residential living which could range from town homes to apartment complexes.

SIGN THIS PETITION IF YOU DO NOT AGREE with this church being constructed in our community.

There was a County Council Public Hearing on this matter on April 16th at 2:00pm at the County Administration Building. We had 22 individuals to speak out in opposition of the building of this facility in this location. They had 12 people to speak for it. There is a meeting on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 where the sub-committee covering this issue will vote to approve or deny the category change.

We still need individuals to sign this petition so we can forward this information to the County Counsel prior to their vote.

The subcommittee vote is looming and we are right on the verge of hitting two hundred and fifty signatures. Please blast this link out to your neighbors right now because the council needs to see our momentum before they make their final decision.

I have been spending my nights reviewing the site plans and mapping out the traffic impact this project would force onto our quiet neighborhood streets. This development is entirely wrong for our landscape and I am working hard to ensure the council understands why we must protect the integrity of our land.

Apart from the fact that this will be a tax burden on the country for the water and sewer development, mega churches are a big business that are exempt from paying their share of taxes. And then also town homes and or apartment complexes on the property. NO NO and NO to this development.

There are 2 churchs with .5 miles of each already. This is a family community and the infrastructure can't take this development. The kids can barely get off of the school buses safely, as it is now. Please no more development.

That location in Bowie is surrounded by family homes and forest while being very quiet. Adding a huge church or otherwise on the corner of Mt Oak Rd and Church Rd will not only cause tremendous traffic congestion, but also devalue the natural beauty of that area.

Too much traffic now without the ice arena coming online yet. I am all for churches, just not a good location unless the road infrastructure changes. I would vote yes if other roads could handle the additional traffic. We have a hard time turning on Church Road (north) now from the Fairwood Parkway.

Poor location for such a large church. The small church in site now causes congestion in a dangerous curve on Church Road. Disruptive to the Westview Neighborood. Church goers parking in front of homes in our neighborhood. Impacts neighbors ability to park.

Church, Woodmore and Mt. Oak Roads simply cannot handle the Church traffic on top of the two county Ice Skating rinks and four housing developments under construction in a one mile or less radius. There doesn’t appear to be any land to add additional lanes.

not enough lanes for all the generated traffic; 214 is a jam now

I am completely against this mega church. Seems like a boondoggle to me.
