Derriford Hospital is proposing yet another increase to the staff parking charges from April 2016, proposing to increase from 1st April 2016 to £3.00 per day and potentially taking the maximum daily charge in 2017/18 up to £3.50 per day.
Derriford Trade Unions have now met and have advised the employer today that we completely oppose any increase.
In one breath NHS staff are praised and praised for their outstanding commitment and hard work for this country's health service, their patients’ health and care, but in the next breath they are told that they must pay even more from their pay as a reward for fulfilling that never-ending commitment. – With another four years of a pay freeze can you afford not to sign this petition?

Disappointed that the Trust feels it necessary to increase the parking charges which are already high compared to other Trusts. There must be other ways to create revenue or tier the charges depending on the staffs income - these charges penalise lower paid workers
This is nothing but extortion. We have no option but to pay these prices as many of us work such unsociable shift patterns that public transport is not an option. This underpins the perception that this Trust really does not care about its workforce.
The nhs should not further penalise the staff that already give 100% in commitment and effort every day they work to fund a shortfall created by the mismanagement of its bureaucracy at the top. How about saving some money by streamlining the upper management layers.
Fed up with hard working health workers lining the pockets of private shareholders. Greedy greedy bunch. Car parks not gritted during recent icy weather . Do we need a repeat of a few years ago when nurse wre slipping on the ice in car p[arks and breaking bones.
Our non-existent pay rise does not cover this extra cost. We are short staffed and doing the work of 2 nurses for one, plus cleaning etc., saving the trust money! What an insult to our dedication and hard work, very demoralising.
I pay enough already any more it won't be worth me going to work as I'm part time!!!!
Charging staff to park at their place of work is sickening especially when health care workers who already go above and beyond the call of duty !! shame on you !!!!

I live 20 miles from the hospital and have no choice but to drive. I work part-time and pay £ a day to park, 20 miles worth of fuel and Tamar Bridge cost for crossing. Esentially, I pay nearly £10 just for the privilege of coming to work
